NEDA NIKOLIĆ TALK DURING ETHNO 2024!

Announcement of the musicological institute SANU:

This month we are pleased to host ethnomusicologist and flute player MA Neda Nikolić, who will present her doctoral artistic research, realized at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance. The conversation is held in cooperation with the “Ethno Serbia” program of the JM Serbia, Belgrade. The moderator will be Dr. Marija Dumnić Vilotijević. On the occasion of cooperation in education with the JM Serbia, Belgrade and in honor of the World Day of Audiovisual Heritage, the SANU Musicological Institute will show the documentary film “Trace of the Mother’s Melody”. This film shows the activities of the SANU Institute of Musicology in the field of ethnomusicology, in the research of various vocal and instrumental aspects of traditional Serbian music, as well as in the study of written sources and preserved sound recordings of old folk songs and melodies. At the end of the lecture, participants of the “Ethno Serbia” program of the JM Serbia, Belgrade, mentored by Neda Nikolić, will perform a short instrumental program, which will be followed by a discussion. The screening of the film and the lecture by Neda Nikolić will be held at the SANU Musicological Institute (Knez Mihailova 36, room 102), on October 11, 2024. The screening of the film will begin at 11 a.m., followed by a discussion, and the lecture will start at noon. Entrance is free, welcome!

ETHNO Serbia 2024 is supported by UNESCO through the joint project “Culture and Creativity for the Western Balkans” (CC4WBs). “Culture and Creativity for the Western Balkans” (CC4WBs) is a project funded by the European Union that aims to foster dialogue in the Western Balkans by enhancing the cultural and creative sectors for increased socio-economic impact.
