MLADI ZA MLADE 2025!
The project Mladi za mlade (Youth for Youth) of JM Serbia–Belgrade (Muzička omladina Beograda) was conceived as a platform that provides support to young artists aged 18 to 30, enabling their professional development, artistic affirmation, and connection with the broader music scene. Through organised concerts and residency programmes, young musicians are given the opportunity to perform regularly, develop their artistic expression, and establish connections with audiences, cultural institutions, and other artists. The project is based on the idea of supporting young artists in the transition from an educational context to professional musical life, offering them space and resources for further development. In addition, it encourages interdisciplinary collaboration and networking with domestic and international partners, contributing to their long-term affirmation. One of the key aspects of the project is the development of the local music scene through the engagement of young performers and the creation of new artistic formats that allow for innovation and experimentation in music. The objectives of the project include enabling young artists to perform in professional conditions, supporting the development of their artistic expression and the affirmation of talent, fostering connections with cultural institutions, audiences, and professional circles, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative musical formats, as well as preserving the tradition of JM Serbia–Belgrade (Muzička omladina Beograda) while simultaneously opening space for contemporary artistic practices.
The Ponedeljkom u Italiji (Mondays in Italy) cycle was implemented in cooperation with the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade and represented one of the key international segments of the Mladi za mlade (Youth for Youth) project. Through this cycle, young artists were given the opportunity to perform in an international context, contributing to their professional affirmation and increased visibility within the broader music scene.
During the implementation of the cycle, a total of nine concerts were held, featuring young musicians aged 18 to 30 who performed in professional conditions and presented their artistic work to audiences and professional circles. The cycle contributed to strengthening cooperation between young artists, cultural institutions, and international partners, as well as to the exchange of diverse musical practices and experiences.
Within the framework of the Mladi za mlade project, Ponedeljkom u Italiji confirmed the importance of continuous support for young artists in the transition from educational settings to professional musical life, while simultaneously contributing to the development of the local music scene and its connection with the international cultural environment. In addition to concert performances, the cycle played an important role in presenting young artists within the context of international cultural cooperation, further strengthening their professional profiles.
The Utorkom u Parobrodu (Tuesdays at Parobrod) cycle was implemented at the Cultural Institution “Parobrod” and served as a continuous platform for the regular performances of young musicians throughout the year. Concerts were held on the third Tuesday of each month, establishing a stable annual rhythm and resulting in a total of eleven concert programmes.
This cycle provided young artists with continuity in public performance, supported the development of their repertoire and performance confidence, and enabled the gradual building of a relationship with the audience. At the same time, the programme strengthened cooperation between young performers and the Cultural Institution “Parobrod” as an important meeting point for contemporary musical practice and a new generation of artists.
Through its multi-month implementation, the cycle functioned as a stable working platform that allowed young artists to plan their activities over a longer period, test programme concepts, and develop their stage identity in continuity. This format contributed to greater professional responsibility among the performers and strengthened their position within the contemporary music scene, while simultaneously reaffirming the importance of Parobrod as a venue that systematically supports the development of young musicians.
The U susret 53. Međunarodnom takmičenju Muzičke omladine Beograda (Towards the 53rd International Jeunesses Musicales Competition Belgrade) cycle was conceived as a programme-based response to the cancellation of the competition itself, with the aim of preserving its continuity and visibility. Through this cycle, three concert programmes were realised, which in both a symbolic and substantive manner highlighted the long-standing significance and tradition of the Competition.
The programme concept was based on presenting various competition categories that have shaped the identity of the Competition over the decades, including both the most frequently represented ones and those that appear less often in contemporary concert seasons, such as piano duo and chamber music. In this way, the cycle maintained a strong connection with the historical legacy of the Competition while simultaneously integrating it into the broader framework of the Mladi za mlade project.
Through these concerts, cultural awareness of the tradition cultivated by the Music Youth of Belgrade over several decades was sustained, contributing to the shaping of Belgrade’s cultural life. A new generation of artists was included as active participants in the process of preserving this tradition, assuming the role of its contemporary bearer and contributing to its continued affirmation.
The Mladi za mlade concerts held at the Artget Gallery of the Belgrade Cultural Centre were realised as a distinct programme segment focused on a more intimate concert format and a more direct interaction between performers and the audience. This venue provided young artists with the opportunity to present themselves in an environment that encourages attentive listening and programme-focused performances.
Within the Artget Gallery concerts, the emphasis was placed on the diversity of repertoire and the individual artistic profiles of the performers, thereby further expanding the programme framework of the Mladi za mlade project. This segment contributed to greater visibility for young musicians within the city’s central cultural institutions and strengthened the connection between contemporary musical production and an urban cultural audience.
At the same time, the concerts at the Artget Gallery contributed to positioning young artists within the context of Belgrade’s contemporary cultural currents, enabling them to present their work in a space that fosters dialogue between artistic creation and the broader cultural public. In this way, this programme segment further reinforced the role of the Mladi za mlade project as a platform that connects young performers with relevant institutions and audiences in an urban cultural environment.
About the Project
The Young for Young project of the Music Youth of Belgrade is designed as a platform that provides support to young artists aged 18 to 30, enabling their professional development, affirmation, and connection with the broader music scene. Through organized concerts and residential programs, young musicians have the opportunity to perform regularly, develop their artistic expression, and establish contacts with audiences, cultural institutions, and other artists. The project is based on the idea of supporting young people in their transition from educational to professional musical life, offering them space and resources for improvement. In addition, it encourages interdisciplinary collaboration and networking with domestic and international partners, contributing to their long-term affirmation. One of the key aspects of the project is the development of the local music scene, engagement of young performers, and creation of new artistic formats that enable innovation and experimentation in music. The project's goals are to enable young artists to perform in professional conditions, develop their artistic expression and affirm talents, connect with cultural institutions, audiences, and professional circles, encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative musical formats, as well as preserve the tradition of the Music Youth of Belgrade while simultaneously opening space for contemporary artistic practices.
